WCEC urges UTC to set expedited timeline for CEIP completion

WCEC asked the WUTC to publish a clear process and timeline to finalize Puget Sound Energy’s Clean Energy Implementation Plan, after the Commission’s Order 10 declined to consolidate the CEIP and rate case dockets. The letter argues the Clean Energy Transformation Act cannot be delayed because the work spans two dockets.

  • Order 10 in Docket UE-220066 denied PSE’s motion to consolidate the CEIP and rate case dockets.
  • WCEC implored the Commission to require PSE to demonstrate meaningful and measurable progress on the CEIP rather than letting the docket separation slow it down.
  • The letter asks the Commission to publish a process and timeline that finalizes CEIP implementation before the end of 2022.
  • If WUTC staff resources are a limiting factor, WCEC suggests the Commission engage qualified consultants to ensure expeditious completion.
  • WCEC member organizations at the time included Sierra Club, 350 Seattle, Climate Action Bainbridge, Northwest Energy Coalition, People for Climate Action, Union of Concerned Scientists, and Vashon Climate Action Group.
