Washington Clean Energy Coalition

Let's get this transition right.

Washington volunteers engage utilities, regulators, and legislators to get clean energy right.

Washington’s clean energy aspirations have been amazing. We passed landmark legislation like the Climate Commitment Act and Clean Energy Transformation Act. Big corporations like Microsoft and Amazon announced ambitious sustainability plans. The cost of clean technology kept plummeting.

Now those commitments are eroding. Data centers demand huge quantities of electricity. Corporations are reaching for expensive nuclear and natural gas to fill the gap, and consultants are claiming the Pacific Northwest has no choice but to burn more fossil fuels. We reject these detrimental conclusions.

The Washington Clean Energy Coalition finds smart energy management, energy storage, and competitive renewable resources provide readily available solutions that cost less, improve grid reliability, and eliminate pollution.
