WCEC responds to Puget Sound Energy's 2027 Integrated System Plan

On May 28, 2026, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) presented the starting point for its first combined gas-and-electric Integrated System Plan (ISP).

  • PSE proposes to build 20 gas-powered plants and an unproven nuclear plant to serve growing demand for electricity. For its gas system, PSE expects little change. But that would incur billions of dollars of pollution fees that PSE expects to pass onto customers through higher energy bills.

  • We propose that a diversified clean portfolio will reduce emissions dramatically, lower customer bills, lessen risk, and provide a more equitable future for all.
